Meanwhile, the horse clubs took to the arena to be judged on their grooming and riding skills.

At midday, groups gathered for a short parade led by local officials and RCMP, followed by musical rides by Boissevain Boots n’ Bits and Southwest Saddles & Spurs.

Once everyone was settled after the parade, the awards ceremony was held. George Meggison was brought in as a guest speaker to talk about how his experience as a 4-H member (nine years in secondary school and four years in university).

Afterwards, awards were given for best parade float, best marching, and best equine for the parade, as well as for the secretary and treasurer record book competition and scrapbook competition. Each winner received funds for their clubs and some 4-H swag.

Senior 4-H members were also recognized. Judges Meagan Hamilton and Rhonda Coupland interviewed the applicants for the 2025 award and chose Dylan Radcliffe of the Goodlands 4-H Variety Club (who was unable to attend) and Holden Ricard of Boissevain Boots n’ Bits.

Radcliffe has been in 4-H for 10 years and has held several positions in her club. Over the years she has taken projects like Smart Sitter and Master Living on Your Own, and enjoys being a role model to the younger members in her club.

Ricard has only been in 4-H for two years, but in that time he has helped the club with fundraising and co-lead the choreography for the musical ride. He also volunteers with the Christmas Cheer Board, Farmers’ Market, and runs his own business.

Radcliffe and Ricard also received a $100 bursary from MNP to recognize their graduation and years of commitment to 4-H.

Most clubs in the area have either grown or been revived recently, so organizers are looking forward to next year’s 90th Rally.
