This year, Boissevain School adopted the slogan “We Are All Broncos”, which symbolizes a sense of community within the school from Kindergarten to Grade 12. The Arts and Drama class brainstormed and researched ideas for their project, and decided to make a mural of their new slogan, using Pinterest for inspiration.

The class began collecting bottle caps on April 1 by sending home letters to parents and asking the community for donations, by April 28 they had enough caps to cover all of the letters. Industrial Arts students assisted with the project by cutting the letters out of wood, as well as providing aid with power tools. Once all of the letters were cut, they were sanded and primed before being spray-painted green and gold, Bronco colours. The students used trial and error to decide what the most successful way to attach the bottle caps to the wood letters would be. Four different types of adhesives, nails and staples were all tested before it was agreed upon that screws would be the most secure way of attaching the bottle caps. The students spent 12 classes screwing 3,500 bottle caps onto all fifteen letters. On Friday, May 26 the class put the final touches on their project by attaching the finished product to the fence. The “We Are All Broncos” mural can be seen driving down Mill Road past the school, it is attached to the fence along the south parking lot.
