To say she is on her way up would be an understatement. Her business acumen and sheer determination has garnered some attention in the business circle in her community of Salmon Arm. Fraser was  named one of the ‘Top 20 Under 40’.
“I am so proud of what I have accomplished and to hear that I was named in the top 20 business people under 40 was overwhelming,” she explained. “I am very humbled by that, to be acknowledged by my peers for doing something I love. I credit the experiences of growing up in such a great town like Souris for helping me get where I am today.”
Getting to where she is today has not been easy. She, along with her entire family suffered the loss of her father when she was still in high school. Dean had been diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer and Kaitlyn researched everything she could regarding cannabis and its uses in treating cancer and other diseases.
“I learned everything I could mainly to try and help my dad but I couldn’t believe that more people weren’t using cannabis for treatment,” she said. “There are just so many benefits from it that it just didn’t make sense.”
She did not know at the time but that research would lead her to where she is today, getting in on the ground floor of the newly legalized cannabis industry.
“When I first came to Salmon Arm, I wasn’t sure what I would find or what I would do, I just wanted a fresh start,” she said. “I met a few people and we got around to talking, found out we had the same interests and here we are.”
When Fraser made her foray into the entrepreneurial world a few years ago, she and her partners decided that the industry’s technology side had not changed much from back room grow ops. With legalization, they knew they could use technology to create new state of the art equipment to supply the growing industry and that is exactly what they have done. Additionally, Fraser and her team have created several new varieties of cannabis for their growing clients list.
“Starting a new business in any industry can be tough, but when you do it with a community around you that is as supportive as Salmon Arm is, it makes the whole experience a lot easier,” says Fraser.
That support has been a key to her success. By partnering with top-tier manufacturing firms, and having both investors and staff with roots right in the community, they have been able to navigate the uncharted waters of legalization. Fraser was born to fill the role as Head of Partnerships, she is perfectly suited to navigate the growing cannabis industry. Her roots have made her a natural leader and the future looks bright for Prism and their network of partners.
