A back injury years ago introduced Lavineway into the world of physiotherapy, chiropractic, acupuncture, osteopathy and massage therapy. She found that massage therapy was the most beneficial in many ways and that sparked her interest in pursuing a career in the field. She received her massage training at the Massage Therapy College of Manitoba (now known as Evolve Massage Therapy), graduating in 2013 with an Advanced Remedial Massage Therapist education.
“I also knew a lot of people that went for massage therapy on a regular basis and had amazing results. I am a strong believer, however in all aspects of care and have seen great success when all health care providers work as a team.”
Lavineway’s first position was in Portage la Prairie at Royal Chiropractic & Prairie Fitness and Rehab where she worked for over six years.
She worked alongside a chiropractor and athletic therapist with the main focus on sports injuries, rehab, deep tissue massage and strengthening exercise. She then moved and worked for two years at Minnedosa Chiropractic and Elkhorn Resort Spa.
At SJL the focus is mainly on deep tissue massage, sports massage, musculoskeletal assessments pregnancy massage and general relaxation.
“I have my certificate in cupping therapy, and with being registered with the Massage Therapy Association of Manitoba we have continuing education requirements, and continue to broaden our education,” she added.
Lavineway furthered her education in the healthcare field and graduated from Assiniboine Community College in 2020 as an LPN and is employed at the Deloraine Health Centre.
SJL hours of business are based around Lavineway’s nursing position, which rotates week by week.
“I am flexible with my hours and willing to get people in as soon as possible. My goal is to accommodate those that need evenings some weekends, mornings and afternoons.”
SJL Massage Therapy provides Blue Cross direct billing and can provide a registered receipt for all other insurance companies that have massage therapy benefits.
