Successful return for Boissevain Fair

It was a well-appreciated return for the Boissevain Fair in 2022.
After the event was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic, it made its return to the summer schedule on June 25-26. Along with traditional activities, a few new ones were added which helped organizers bring people to the Boissevain Fair Grounds.
Ag Society Secretary Treasurer Nicole Fordyce said they were happy with how everything turned out.
“The crowds were pretty good,” Fordyce stated. “Sunday turned out to be a beautiful day, which brought out a lot of families.”

Temperatures were a little cool and damp on Saturday, but the fireworks, usually held on Canada Day, were able to go on schedule in the evening along with the steak night. As Fordyce stated, weather improved on Sunday, which meant bigger crowds for older events as well as the newer ones like the children’s carnival and others.
“Our new events for Sunday turned out pretty well. The community worship service was well attended and a lot of people came out to watch and participate in the combine pull.”
Fordyce added some of the entries were down in the display building, but it was still a good turnout for the first fair in three years. There were some impressive results as well. They attracted 30 heavy horses on Sunday, which was better than in the last several fairs.
Communities are starting to get their events going again and finding their feet. It has been a long time for many people and organizations since they have last held these longstanding celebrations. They are happy to be able to bring them back. The Turtle Mountain Ag Society is one of them.
“Overall it was a great weekend and we are thrilled to have been able to have hosted a successful community event,” Fordyce said.
