The 83rd annual 4-H Rally, held on Friday, June 2 at the Boissevain Fairgrounds, started at 8:30 am. Fourteen clubs attended to display their 4-H skills including Goodland’s Variety Club, Alexander 4-H Club, Dand Belles et Beaux, Souris 4-H Challengers, Roseland South Brandon 4-H Club, Boissevain Beef Club, Deloraine 4-H Home Ec. Club, Boissevain Home & Hobby, Killarney 4-H Explorers, Coulter Western Trail Riders, Pierson Pathfinders, Archie Light Horse & Pony Club, Boissevain Boots ‘N Bits and Glenboro Prairie Riders.
The morning consisted of workshops for the home & hobby clubs, competitions for the horse clubs, and a demonstration on washing and grooming cattle for the beef club.
Following the parade, the noon show included a special salute for Canada’s 150th. The program began with all 4-H members singing the national anthem and reciting the 4-H pledge.
As part of the Canada’s 150th celebration, each club was tasked with creating a chant to help commemorate the occasion. Club’s performed their unique chants for the audience and the winners were chosen by this years parade and chant judges, Rhonda Coupland, Dale Banman and Kylie Thomas. The Deloraine Community 4-Hers were chosen as having the best chant.
4-H Rally Day Home & Hobby activities
The Home and Hobby clubs set up their project displays they completed this year in the Curling Club to show off to their family, friends and fellow members. They were then tasked to put their “learn to do by doing” skills to the test when they took part in different workshops throughout the morning including string art creations, twiggy bouquets and flowerpot planting and painting. The clubs had a fun afternoon of Laser Tag and jumping in a bouncer.

There were 47 horses and ponies entered in the horse show, with four clubs participating, Archie Light Horse and Pony Club, Boissevain Boots N’ Bits, Coulter Western Trail Riders and Glenboro Prairie Riders. The judge for the day was Terry Fehr of Glenboro, and Ring Stewart was Rebecca Turner of Boissevain. The following members received awards for participating from generous sponsors throughout Manitoba.
