Cheryl McTaggart, a financial planner with Assante Financial Management Ltd, is open and ready in her home at the Junction. McTaggart spent 30 years with the Royal Bank, coming to the Boissevain branch quite regularly. She has 17 years of experience in the financial services industry and holds the Personal Financial Planner designation. After a long time with Royal, she felt it was time for a change.
“I was talking to a previous colleague,” McTaggart explained, “who in turn forwarded my name on to the recruiting officer of Assante and from there they were in contact with me.”
Since its establishment in 1995, Assante has become one of Canada’s largest professional service firms in wealth management. It is described as one of the most integrated in the financial management business that helps support clients through their economic journey.
“My attraction to the company is their strength of approximately $160 billion in total assets under CI Financial Corp. and their ‘Be well advised’ motto.”
She said she would be concentrating on providing successful individuals and business owners (both men and women) on and off the farm with a full suite of investment, financial and estate planning advice and services.
“I am looking to work with individuals and companies who need a trusted advisor to assist them through their complex financial needs,” McTaggart said.

McTaggart added that a trusted advisor must always put the needs and wants of the clients first.
The Junction has become a significant hub for business and office space in the community. McTaggart felt it was a great place to establish her new Assante digs.
“I approached (Junction co-owner) Merle Neufeld to see if they would have any additional office space available,” she explained, “as I loved the look and feel of their building.”
Overall, McTaggart hopes she and the Assante brand can bring a different level of financial management services to the entire area.
“I want to offer the people of Boissevain, Deloraine, Killarney, Melita and Souris the level of advice and integrated services previously unavailable in this area.”
