Kinew has been speaking out against PC Leader Brian Pallister and the many health care cuts that he has pushed through since the PC party took power less than two years ago.

“Public health care is under attack by Pallister,” stated Kinew. “He’s closing emergency rooms, laying off ER doctors in Winnipeg, and shuttering EMS stations in rural communities. These decisions are life and death.”

“His cuts will affect each and every one of us and he doesn’t seem to care. We want to do something about it,” Kinew said.

Boissevain was one of five stops Kinew was making in his health care tour this winter, including three stops in Winnipeg and one in Brandon.

About 30 people attended the open town hall meeting held at the Boissevain Community Centre on Tuesday evening, January 16, including several Boissevain-Morton councillors. The public were able to express their views about the direction health care is taking in our province.

Last summer’s announcement that Boissevain’s EMS station will be closed was brought up. Cuts to local EMS services bring concerns as to what is the future for Boissevain’s acute care services.
