Fluker said there are 31 people who are in the provincial hall from Boissevain. Ken Pringle was honoured on his own in 2015, as well as his team, the Boissevain Centennials, from 1991-96, who were inducted in 2013. She said Pringle has been talking to players and they hope most of them can make the ceremony.

As well, they will be honouring Marvin Mills, a 2017 Honour Society inductee, due to his heavy contribution to baseball in Boissevain.

They are not sure exactly when the ceremony will be held, but it will be before the start of the Cents vs. Souris Cardinals game at 7:00pm. They are hoping to have the guys come out on the field before the teams begin play.

But the festivities will begin before. A barbecue is planned to start at 5:00pm, and they will be hosting a beer garden out in right field that will run through the evening.

Baseball Manitoba was started in 1968 to foster the participation, development and competition of baseball in the province. They run coaching and umpiring clinics, sets up leagues, runs tournaments and provincials. It is a similar role to Hockey Manitoba. Baseball Manitoba currently serves around 15,000 members.

Fluker said she hopes as many people as possible can come out and honour baseball in the community and the province.

“Hopefully, we get a lot of people. It should be fun. I think it is a huge achievement. If the kids realize what these guys have done, they might think ‘I want to do that too’.”
